Cross-platform learning model of teaching foreign languages
In modern world in various scientific researches on foreign language teaching methods we also can meet a reference of different models of teaching. Informational technologies successfully integrate in the educational process and as a consequence, in the model of teaching foreign languages and Russian as Foreign Language. In this presentation, we will look through new model of teaching foreign languages and Russian as Foreign Language - cross-platform learning model. It is formed by social services WEB 2.0.
Cross-platform model is learning model of teaching, formed by learning management system (LMS), which is combined by the integration of various social web-services 2.0 with their defined didactic properties and functions, which they perform.
This model of distance learning, which can be used not only for teaching foreign languages and Russian as a foreign language. This model consists of several main unchanged elements, as well as additional elements that can be added to an online course to extend its functionality.
The project Langteach is a cross-platform learning model. On the project website proposed the following topics of the course:
As an example of the model application, using the training course for Russian as a foreign language teaching.
Each of these sections carries a specific function in this model of learning.
Section "Tasks" will contain the whole list of topics (links) in alphabetical order. A student on the platform can see the whole list of tasks and can perform them in random order.
Section "Online services" contains a list of online services that are used on the course. All services are free. The use of a large number of online services can significantly increase motivation to learn Russian language for foreigners.
Section "Lesson Plans" will contain the author's development of lesson plans for teachers of Russian as foreign.
Section "Presentation" contains the presentations for face-to-face lessons. They increase clarity, motivation and efficiency of learning vocabulary of the students.
Section "Syllabus of the course Informational technologies in Russian as foreign language" contains the course syllabus.
Section "Articles" contains articles on training with this training model.
Section "Texts" contains texts (topics) (in alphabetical order) with the lexical minimum, the tests and the questions to them.
Section "Thematic dictionary" contains lexical minimum on the topics (in alphabetical order).
Section "Virtual classroom" contains all written assignments and tests that can be performed online and ask the teacher questions on a specific lesson.
The system integrates the following tools of the Web. 2.0 (not taken into account all didactic properties and functions of the platforms because of the limited volume of abstracts) In our presentation we will look through the didactic properties and functions of the following online services:
4. Let's test
In our opinion, the use of this training model due to its flexibility, allows to avoid the routine in teaching foreign languages and, because it may be that students are just not interested to go, the fact that they were already informed and they can choose for themselves, what at the moment is important for themselves, thus they can determine their individual educational trajectory, to use the necessary amount of time for assignments and always get answers from the teacher to all their questions.
